Golden Rag
The inspiration for the Golden Rag Series came at a trip to Rome where I have seen the famous stone sculptures made by the master roman sculptors.
These amazing sculptures created an illusion that makes the stone look like light, delicate clothes, incredible.
I have decided to try it myself in metal so, using a special technique, I managed to simulate the look and feel of cloth.
Some designs aim for rough, textured textile while others focus on the softness showing its smooth, amazing curves.
Starting this series lead to a fascinating exploration of the aesthetics of textile and its qualities.
Some designs show how it folds and stretch while others simulate textile holding a solid shape taking its shape.
This series will produce many more designs, I am sure, as I feel that I have just started.
